This site exists mainly because I have become very frustrated by the material on Harry Potter available, both on
the web and in books. For most sites, analyses mean disecting "clues" about what lies in store for Harry, or discussing the
name-sakes of the characters. The same is true of books. There are teachers' guides, of course, but they are very limited
in scope. And it is this perspective that makes Harry Potter worthwhile for me.
When I first heard of the series, I dismissed it as a pop culture fad, and refused to read any of them. Then a friend
finally convinced me to give it a try. My mother gave me the first for Christmas, and within a week I had read the first
three (this was in 1999). I have not lost interest in the series since, though it has been nearly five years, and though
I have lost count of how man times I have read each book.
And now I am joining the ranks of the fanatics by creating my own website about Harry Potter. Where I differ is
that this site is almost entirely my own opinions and analyses, rather than chat rooms and lists of every single character
or item ever mentioned in the books, though those can be quite interesting as well.
